Dealing with a micromanaging boss is a common complaint in the workplace. It might look like someone being very controlling over the work, checking in constantly, examining submissions excessively, or putting a lot of pressure on employees regarding deadlines, the quality of work, or the amount of progress made. It can leave employees feeling demoralized and like they are always looking over their shoulder, often leading to lowered morale and productivity.

When someone is micromanaging, it is likely because of one of two things: they don’t trust their employees, or they believe this is how a manager should act. If you are dealing with this in your workplace, here are a few considerations to help you address it and work towards a constructive relationship.
